Puerto Rico update!

Every year, I make sure that nothing conflicts during the Ultimate Dirt Challenge in Rincon, Puerto Rico. I love it!

This was the third year I have gone for the event, and it was once again a blast. In years past, the dirt jump portion was just a demo. For 07 they made it into a contest. Carter Holland and Adam Hauk made the jumps. They werent the best jumps, but were incredible for what they had to work with during afternoon tropical storms...

Modela Light is the beer company that puts on the event, which has a UCI sanctioned XC race, as well. Todd Wells and Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski were in attendance.

So basically we are there for a week, surfing everyday, and doing whatever we please. We ride for one day and go home. Basically a vacation with a couple hours of riding mixed in.

On our way down there, Kyle Strait, Cam Mccaul, and myself got stuck in Miami and had to stay the night. We take a cab downtown to take advantage of the layover. Lucky for us, it was spring break! So we are wandering around downtown somewhere. All of a sudden, we hear, "Kyle, Cam, Cam!"

We're like, "Rad, those dudes know who we are. Holy crap! Its Chucho and his crew!"

We met these guys at Ray's and apparently they have gone to Monster Park and other contests, too. Just avid mountain bikers and huge fans (pretty rich, too). They definitely know their way around Miami, as well...

So we chill and have a couple drinks and their bartender friend (sooo hot) hooks us up, and we head to Ft. Lauderdale for a wild night. Chicks dancing on bars and killing it! So we had a ridiculously good night, that came out of nowhere.

The next day, we got PR!

Immediately, we meet up with Nate Adams, Jamie Goldman, Adam Hauk, Carter Holland, and Ian Hylands. Enjoy our damn selves and go to bed. Get up and go surf. Same story every day.

For the contest, they had us doing two half hour heats, in which I lost ten pounds of sweat... We had a ton of fun, and here are the results:

Mccaul: 1st

Goldman: 2nd

Hauk: 3rd

Zink: 4th

Strait 5th...
