Phil Sundbaum's Ray's MTB Indoor B-I-K-E Event Report
02.22.08 --

This year instead of Ray's 3ride we all got to play a game of bike. 16 riders got invited and were told to bring a partner and get ready to play bike. Bike is a game similar to playing Horse or Pig on a basketball court but with a bike and usually at a skatepark. It's pretty simple. You pull a card from the deck and use the trick drawn in some way or variation on the course and then the team you were playing would have to match that trick and if they didn't they would get a letter. The first one to spell BIKE loses.

I chose Joe Perrizo as my partner and we both met up at the park on the Thursday before the comp to get some extra riding in so we were ready to shred. It worked out for us in the first round beating our challengers B-I to B-I-K-E. In the second round, however, we got our cards handed to us by Adam Hauck and Thomas Hancock. We were all riding pretty well and the bar wasn't set too high, but it was the little foot downs that cost us the round. Although we lost the round, they ended up winning it all so we didn't feel too bad.

Well I'm getting tired of the snow and below freezing temps of Ohio, so now that the comp is over we are off to our next stop on the Summer of Shred: New Zealand. For this stop, we are meeting up with Caleb from Spoke magazine and he is taking us to all the best spots on both islands of New Zealand.
