Phil Sundbaum's Qashqai Recap
06.10.08 --

I just spent the last month traveling Europe to compete in the Qashqai Challenge. It's normally a five stop series, but this year Paris had to be cancelled so unfortunately there were only four. All of the courses this year were fun to ride, they were all built out of dirt and had a few different wood features at each stop. The first two events were open qualifiers for riders to earn a spot in the final two stops where the prizes were much bigger and points were earned for an overall ranking. The level was pushed a little higher this year but at most of the stops there was a lot of wind and that made riders hold back a little so not everyone was riding to there fullest. Now that its all over I was able to finish with a 7th and a 4th which put me in 6th overall and leaving with a little smile on my face. This whole series came and went so fast that I would like to say that its time to go rest but now it seems like the season can finally begin because all of the other events that I look forward to throughout the year are still to come.

Special thanks to Matt Dobson who sent us these photos of Phil at the Qashqai London event! Matt can be reached at djukmatt@hotmail.com.
