Vans BMX Camp pics

Vans BMX Camp, Florida, April 3rd-5th 2008.

Ali Whitton, Josh Harrington, Ryan Guettler and I attended an event a bit different to the usual contest, we taught 18 kids for 2 days at the Vans Skatepark in Orlando, Florida.

Actually there were 17 Kids and one very passionate man at 41 years of Age called Peter. Ali’s Woodward Camp experience became helpful as we divided the riders up in two groups so we could spend time with them riding, teaching, hanging out and playing bike games.

I worked with Guettler mostly and we taught the kids the very basics and the progression was evident by the second day, which was great to see.

The Kids and Peter got a VANS shoe voucher, stickers and Tee’s, and I got to raffle off a brand new Haro intro Lite bike that was won by Sheyne.

The Last day there was an Am only contest that we had to judge 3 classes, under 15, over 15, and open. Most of the kids we taught entered under 15 and did some tricks we helped them out with so that was good to see. My favourite lines were Nathan jumping the doubles, Tyler dropping power wheelies around the course and Thomas on the free Agent bunny hopping the decks.

We made a bunch of new friends had a great time and we hope to continue this camp in the future.
