What’s a thread? Traditionally, it has a very specific use: it’s a thin cord of fiber used to make fabric. Thread series bikes have an equally specific use: skatepark, urban, and dirt jumping. What a Thread isn’t: it’s not a cross-country bike nor is it an all-mountain hardtail. They’re like BMX bikes for big kids; the ultimate play bikes.
Need gears? The Thread Eight has ‘em…eight, to be exact. You don’t need much more than that on this type of bike; just enough to maybe grab a few extra teeth as you charge towards the six-pack (jumps, that is). A Marzocchi Dirt Jumper 4 smoothes out the bumps and a set of Hayes MX4 mechanical disc brakes will come in handy on the other side of the six-pack.
