The ultimate Masi race frame, and for many people, the core of what we are as a racing bike brand. Ridden by countless champions from around the world, and by a certain Dave Stoller from Bloomington, Indiana. We painstakingly recreated the iconic lug set, 3D scanning the originals to make sure every angle, every point was exactly how it was. When that was done we reached out to our good friends at Columbus for their SL double butted tub set.

  • The return of the iconic masi road racing machine, painstakingly recreated using exact replicas of the original Gran Criterium lugs.
  • Hand crafted from Columbus SL double butted tubing.
  • NOTE: Frame uses a 70mm, BSA Threaded BB shell. BB must be faced to 68mm if using a modern, 68mm bottom bracket spindle by removing 1mm of material on each side of the shell.

Very Nice Frameset

Been looking at this frame for awhile and glad I got it. Comes with headset and rear brake cable clamps for the top tube. Very good quality - great finish, rides surprisingly well on Mavic rims, and it was at a great price. Two oddities. The bottom bracket is a 70mm shell but with BSA thread. Could not find a BB like that. Had to get a shop to fit a 68 mm shell. Works fine. Also front brake mount is recessed and rear brake mount in nutted. Flipped the brakes rear to front with an long bolt front. Got lots of thread and holding up fine. Would buy this frame again but I don’t need another bike.

Awesome frameset

So, what do you do with a late 1970s full Campagnolo Super Record equipped bike that ran into something and bent the fork, top tube and downtube, well, order this frameset and use the parts to build a new old bike. Frame is well brazed and beautiful. The threads were properly chased and the bottom bracket perfectly faced out of the box. Parts transferred over nicely from the old damaged bike to the new frameset. The only issues were a new bottom bracket spindle and cutting the crown race to 26.4. This bike rides beautifully and looks just as good. Classic Gran Criterium. Masi says its all about the ride, don't ever stop making this frameset.
