I have it set up with a dropper, 44c tires and use it for commuting and riding relatively smooth singletrack that would otherwise be kinda boring on my mtb. The brakes are phenomenal, just enough modulation for scrubbing speed while packing a good bite for pivot turns, backin’ ‘er in, etc. The front end of this bike just works. I really wanted to stick w/ 700c to preserve road mannerisms and I don’t know if it’s the fork, or the bars or a combo thereof, but it’s surprisingly smooth over root and rock chatter on the trail. Definitely recommend, the paint looks even better in person. I’m at ~1200 miles now, riding in and around Philly.
The Brunello GRX11 arrives competitively equipped for the price. Feel-good value. I didn’t feel the need to upgrade anything on the bike after my first week of riding. And that’s saying A LOT about how hard Masi worked to pair the best possible parts with the right price tag.
The review title says it all: “I’ve never felt so confident in the drops.”
The GRX11 feels damn good on the dirt. In fact, I first tested the bike in an area known for shattering the collar bones of those who dare enter on anything less than a 29” 2.1. However, within minutes, the stability and sturdiness of the bike easier my fears. An hour of intense satisfaction ensued. And, of course, crisp and clean shifting from the GRX group added to the memorable experience. Oh, and if you have hesitations about riding aluminum over steel or carbon, try the Brunello. Well-tuned and surprisingly forgiving with the full-carbon fork.
Before the Brunello, I thought I’d be a flat-bar guy for life.
Ugh. N+1, right?
If you're looking for a steady work horse, this is your bike. I've only had this bike a short time but love how steady and stable a ride it is on the trails. It flows great throughout wide turns and flies on those long fire roads. It has a wide tire clearance which is great when wanting to run bigger tires for different rides, as well as being extremely versatile and able to to accommodate whatever your a next adventure is. It comes with an extra bottle cage mount on the down tube as well as mounts on the top tube for a bag. I'm looking forward on taking this bike on my next bike packing tour!
